Cody Bartusiak, CRPC®, MBA
Financial Advisor
Cody always knew he wanted a career in finance. He joined BXB Wealth Advisors to make a real impact in the lives of families and professionals.
You started out in investment banking. What changed?
Investment banking is a different kind of work. You’re moving capital, not changing lives. What motivates me most is sitting across from a person or family and knowing that the guidance I give will shape real decisions and real outcomes. When I met Kent, who had been my parents’ advisor for years, I saw what this side of finance could look like at its best. That was the path I wanted.
Who do you typically work with?
Driven professionals, business owners, and families who have achieved meaningful financial success and are now navigating increasing complexity. Many are in their peak earning years or approaching retirement. They often have a CPA, an attorney, several investment accounts, and various insurance products, but lack true coordination across these areas. My role is to bring structure, alignment, and clarity so every part of their financial life operates as one cohesive strategy.
You emphasize giving clients a direct recommendation, not just options. Why does that matter?
Because options without direction often lead to hesitation, and hesitation leads to inaction. While most financial decisions have more than one valid path, clients typically aren’t looking for a list of possibilities. They are looking for straightforward guidance. My role is to understand their situation in depth, apply real-world judgment, and recommend the course of action I would take if I were in their position.
How does your planning process work in practice?
We start by building a complete picture: your financial life, your priorities, your goals, and the timeline that matters to you. From there, I construct a personalized framework with clear recommendations and defined next steps. Then we move to implementation, and that includes coordinating directly with your CPA, attorney, and other specialists so nothing falls through the gaps. We revisit the plan regularly because life changes, and your strategy should respond to that.
Life outside the office
Cody lives in Colorado with his fiancée, Mara, and their dog, Zamp. When he’s not working, you’ll find him hiking, backpacking, fishing, skiing, or somewhere abroad reconnecting with international friends and exploring new cultures.
Your mother was a math teacher, and your father worked in operations. How did that shape you? I grew up in a household shaped by structure, precision, and a deep respect for how systems work. With parents whose careers centered on teaching, mathematics, and operations, practical problem-solving was part of everyday life. That foundation continues to influence how I approach financial planning and investment management today. It also fostered my passion for educating my clients by helping them truly understand their strategy, not just implement it.
You played collegiate lacrosse. How does that show up in your work today? Lacrosse taught me that discipline and consistency matter more than raw talent. You can be the most gifted person in the room and still underperform if you aren’t putting in the preparation. The same is true in financial planning. Showing up with rigor, attention to detail, and accountability every single time is what separates good outcomes from average ones. That mindset was drilled into me on the field, and I carry it into every client relationship.
